Caceroladas, Palestinian flags, and banners calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza filled the streets of Arrecife this Saturday. The group Lanzarote con Palestina held a protest action in the capital of the island on the morning of 30th August, demanding that Israeli forces cease their occupation of the Gaza Strip and establish peace in the region.

Support for the Gaza Peace Flotilla

This gathering, attended by around a hundred people, took place a day before a flotilla of boats departs from Barcelona, heading to Gaza in an effort to open a humanitarian corridor and end the famine in the country. A local resident from Lanzarote has also joined this flotilla.

The action began at Calle León y Castillo in Arrecife, near the Casa Amarilla, at 12:00 noon. Participants marched along the Muelle de Las Cebollas and concluded at the Puente de Las Bolas. During the demonstration, they included a jolatero, a traditional boat from Lanzarote, filled with paper boats and messages supporting the freedom of the Palestinian people. Dozens of flags were also waved.
