The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Public Services Department, reports that the Las Mesas Park in the Anaga district is now open to the public following the lifting of the preventive measures associated with the heat alerts issued last August.
As a result, both access to the park and the cooking areas in the recreational zone, which had been closed for safety reasons, are now reopened for public use.
The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasised that “safety is always the priority; therefore, temporary closure measures were implemented during the heat alerts. Now that these have been lifted, the Las Mesas area is back open for the enjoyment of residents and visitors, while always maintaining the necessary precautions in such environments.”
The councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, highlights that “it is great news to reopen this natural space and its recreational area, but we stress the individual responsibility of every person who visits, especially regarding the use of cooking facilities. Preventing fire risks is a shared task, and we need the cooperation of the public.”
The councillor for the Anaga district, Gladis de León, calls upon citizens to take responsibility in ensuring that this space remains in perfect condition now that it is available again for the residents of Santa Cruz. “It is vital not only to protect the environment in which it is located but also to ensure the proper use of the facilities that belong to everyone.”
The City Council reminds the public that, while the park and cooking facilities are operational again, it is essential for citizens to exercise caution, make responsible use of the facilities, and respect basic safety rules to prevent any fire-related incidents.
