Firefighters and Local Police Enter to Rescue Dogs Locked in Occupied House in Santa Cruz

Rescue Operation Launched for Dogs Trapped in Occupied House in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Dogs that have been locked and abandoned in an occupied house in Santa Cruz de Tenerife are on the verge of being rescued. As explained to Atlántico Hoy by Tahiche Pérez, a volunteer who has been feeding the animals for several days, firefighters and local police arrived at the property on Thursday afternoon to rescue the dogs.

A video sent to this outlet by Tahiche shows how the firefighters managed to open a window of the building, which would facilitate access to the property.

Meanwhile, outside the house, dozens of people have gathered in response to the volunteer’s call on social media, as she has been requesting assistance to rescue the animals for several days.

Prior Complaints and Public Pressure

The situation of the dogs has come to light in recent hours due to complaints circulated on social media by Tahiche Pérez, who was alerted by local residents.

The continuous barking and foul smell raised alarms among nearby residents, who warned that the squatters living in the house had not been there for over a week and there was a risk that the animals could perish if action was not taken swiftly.

Advance of the Intervention

The Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, had explained to volunteers today that a court order to enter the property would be requested on Friday.

However, the intervention was brought forward, as confirmed by Tahiche Pérez to this outlet and can be seen in the images.
