Rescue Operation in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Agents from the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in a coordinated effort with the Tenerife Fire Consortium and the National Police Corps, have rescued a total of seven animals that were found in a presumed state of abandonment inside a property located at number 28 on Febles Campos Street.

The intervention began following a citizen alert reporting a group of neighbours gathered outside the building, concerned about the constant barking and animal noises that had emanated from within for over a week, without anyone being seen inside the residence.

A patrol from the Local Police immediately arrived at the scene, where they confirmed the validity of the reports. The officers verified the noises coming from the animals and detected a strong foul odour emanating from the property, prompting them to activate the protocol for a potential case of abandonment and animal abuse.

Recognising the need to access the interior to assess the condition of the animals and ensure their safety, the Local Police requested assistance from the Tenerife Fire Consortium, which facilitated safe entry into the property. Once inside, the agents discovered five dogs and two birds of prey in evident distress, within a highly unsanitary environment.

The operation was conducted in conjunction with the National Police, who took charge of the relevant judicial proceedings. The animals were secured and handed over to the appropriate services for necessary veterinary care.

Gladis de León, the Councillor for Citizen Security of the Santa Cruz City Council, expressed gratitude for the cooperation from the Fire Service and the National Police during the operation, while also praising the invaluable role of the community alert that enabled the rescue of these seven animals.
