Rescue Operation Underway After Woman Found Beneath Boat in La Graciosa

Firefighters from the Consortium of Security and Emergency Services of the Cabildo Insular of Lanzarote responded to a report of a person trapped beneath a boat at the slipway of the teleclub in Caleta de Sebo, on the island of La Graciosa.

The alert came from a woman knocking on the park office door around 16:20, informing them that someone was trapped under a boat. When the firefighters arrived at the accident scene, they found the woman lying face down under the vessel, but she was not trapped.

A nurse was already on site, conversing with the woman and assessing the situation. She requested gauze, which was provided by the firefighters, who alerted the medical services of La Graciosa while attending to the victim and preparing for the extraction manoeuvre.

As the medical team was en route, a doctor who happened to be in the area arrived and reassessed the woman. Once the medical services arrived, they placed the woman on a spinal board, sliding the board over the rocks. She was then transferred to the ambulance stretcher, where she was positioned supine. Subsequently, the firefighters were called upon to assist the medical personnel at the dock for the transfer of the victim from the ambulance to the ferry, which would then take her to Lanzarote.
