Ryanair Increases Hand Luggage Allowance for Tenerife Passengers
All Ryanair passengers, following the airline’s announcement on Wednesday regarding a reduction of 400,000 seats in the Canary Islands—primarily affecting Tenerife North Airport—will be allowed to carry hand luggage exceeding the standard set by the European Union, free of charge, starting this Thursday.
According to the budget airline, the new permitted hand luggage dimensions (40 x 30 x 20 cm) are 33% larger than the EU standard (40 x 30 x 15 cm).
Ryanair allows each passenger to bring one piece of free hand luggage on board, provided it fits under the passenger seat. If passengers wish to travel with an additional piece of hand luggage, they can do so by purchasing Ryanair’s ‘Priority Boarding’ service.
The airline also highlighted that it has completed the installation of larger hand luggage measuring devices at 235 airports across Europe.
“From today, the new free hand luggage allowance from Ryanair is 33% larger than the EU standard. We have adjusted the size of the luggage measuring devices at all airports to accommodate this larger free hand luggage,” stated Dara Brady, CMO of Ryanair.
Brady further reminded passengers that they can also request checked baggage during the booking process.
“We expect our customers to enjoy these larger pieces of free hand luggage. However, any passenger who does not comply with these new, generous limits will be required to pay the checked baggage fee at the boarding gate,” he added.
