The Island Corporation and the Town Hall reach consensus with local residents
From Thursday, 11 September, the TF-113 island road will operate as a one-way street for vehicles heading downhill between kilometres 0+890 and 1+350 (access to Decroly School). This measure will remain in place until the works are completed, which is expected to be by the end of October. The aim is to ensure road safety and minimise traffic disruptions during construction, which is being undertaken by E-Distribución Redes Digitales, S.L.U., and declared of general interest with all necessary permits.
The Cabildo, alongside La Laguna Town Hall, reached this decision following a meeting with local residents on Monday, 8 September, at the Jardina Citizen Centre. The meeting was attended by the councillor for Roads, Dámaso Arteaga, and La Laguna councillors Domingo Galván, Ángel Chinea, Moisés Afonso, and Adrián del Castillo, as well as local residents. During the discussion, the safety measures required by the Cabildo were outlined, along with the technical challenges of the work on the current road, and residents’ concerns regarding the duration of the works and local mobility were addressed.
After evaluating various options, the Cabildo decided that the one-way downhill arrangement would be the most suitable choice to reduce risks and facilitate traffic flow during the construction period.
Furthermore, the executing company will enhance its resources to expedite the progress of the works and will deploy specific support personnel on-site to ensure user safety.
Dámaso Arteaga affirmed that the measures reflect a responsible approach prioritising the safety of people while essential improvements to the network are underway. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration of the Town Hall and the community, and assured that ongoing monitoring would be conducted to adjust the measures as necessary.
