The Mayor, Isidro Pérez, has sent a letter to the airport authority to express his willingness to assist with cleaning operations at the aerodrome using municipal staff until AENA resolves the contract for this service.
Mayor of San Bartolomé Offers Support for Airport Maintenance
The Mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez Martín, has formally written to the officials of the General State Administration and AENA on the island, offering the collaboration of the Town Council to temporarily contribute to the cleaning, maintenance, and preservation of the green and landscaped areas of César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport.
Furthermore, the council has indicated its readiness to deploy a municipal team while the new service contract put out to tender by AENA is under consideration. This initiative aims to prevent the deterioration of the surroundings and to ensure that this vital infrastructure maintains an appropriate appearance.
Mayor Isidro Pérez emphasised that “César Manrique Airport is the primary gateway to and from Lanzarote, and we wish to contribute to ensuring that its surroundings are in the best possible condition, both environmentally and aesthetically, as we cannot allow the current image to persist.”
He also highlighted that “this offer stems from institutional loyalty and a commitment to inter-administrative cooperation, convinced that the sum of efforts will benefit the citizens and enhance the external image of our island.”
Furthermore, the San Bartolomé Town Council reminds that the proper maintenance of its landscaped areas is crucial not only for the tourist image of Lanzarote but also for the environmental and scenic quality of the San Bartolomé municipality.
The San Bartolomé Town Council has been working for years to ensure that the urban image has minimal impact on the landscape, and this offer undoubtedly contributes to continuing this municipal initiative.
