The Arona Town Council undertook a sanitation operation last Friday at Los Enojados beach, located in the El Fraile area, aiming to restore the natural environment and enhance safety and hygiene standards. This initiative is part of the coastal monitoring and oversight plan, collaborating with the Canary Islands Agency for the Protection of the Natural Environment and the Provincial Coastal Service of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
During the operation, seven containers of waste were removed, totalling approximately 6,800 kilograms, primarily consisting of rubble and other discarded materials. The operation involved a significant deployment of resources, including an excavator, a crane truck, three pick-up vehicles, and 12 workers from the Coastal area, alongside external personnel. The security and logistical support included the Local Police of Arona and the Civil Guard.

The First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for the Environment, Clari Pérez, highlighted that “initiatives like this are essential to protect our environment and ensure that these spaces can be enjoyed by citizens in dignified and safe conditions.” She also emphasised the importance of acting with planning, decisiveness, and inter-administrative coordination to address such situations.
Meanwhile, the Local Police Councillor, Héctor Reyes, praised the work of the involved officers, stating that “the Local Police continues to collaborate closely with various municipal areas to ensure effective interventions like this. Acting responsibly and within the legal framework is crucial to restore degraded spaces, ensure everyone’s safety, and protect our coastline.”

Officials from the Arona administration stated that this operation is a further step in the action plan, which includes future preventive measures and follow-ups in coastal areas where irregular occupations or waste dumping are detected, thereby reinforcing the protection of the municipality’s natural environment.
