The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Council, through the Public Services department, has already begun the preliminary work for the installation of this year’s Christmas lights for 2025. This initiative is progressing well and has, at this stage, completed the majority of the electrical lines and panels that will provide technical support for the overall festive illumination.

Following this stage, work will focus on the arrangement of garlands, decorative elements, and luminous structures that will gradually transform the city’s appearance in the lead-up to Christmas.

The city’s mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, explained that “Santa Cruz has been committed for years to making Christmas a benchmark in the Canary Islands, and that is why we work well in advance to ensure everything is ready on time.” He emphasised that “the Christmas lighting not only enhances the urban aesthetics but also stimulates local commerce, hospitality, and tourism.”

Meanwhile, the Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, highlighted that “this year, as a new feature, we are incorporating the main pedestrian promenades of the municipality into the overall Christmas lighting scheme.” He also noted that “it is the first time that areas such as Avenida Manuel Hermoso Rojas, Avenida Benito Pérez Armas, and Avenida Príncipes de España will be illuminated, providing continuity and unity to the festive landscape of Santa Cruz.”

Tarife further emphasised that “the work is being carried out in zones and with technical planning to minimise inconvenience to residents and ensure we reach all planned locations with enough time before the official switch-on.”

The Christmas lighting campaign is part of the Council’s strategy to enhance the commercial and cultural appeal of Santa Cruz during the festive season. It will be complemented with a special programme of activities, markets, music, and events across the different districts.
