Increased Blood Donation Campaigns Across the Canary Islands
The General Directorate of Blood Donation and Haemotherapy of the Canary Health Service (SCS) will establish various blood donation points throughout the archipelago next week. This initiative aims to facilitate participation from both residents and visitors.
As a result, the number of designated donation locations will increase, allowing those who wish to contribute to ensure that public hospitals in the Canary Islands have sufficient supplies of blood and blood products to support normal healthcare operations.
Blood Donation Points in Fuerteventura
On the island of Fuerteventura, the donation campaign will remain active until 12 September in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario. A donation centre is located on the third floor of the Las Rotondas Shopping Centre (unit 22). The donor service hours are Monday to Wednesday from 17:00 to 21:00, and Thursday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00.
Additionally, the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, situated on the airport road, kilometre 1, includes a fixed point of the Canary Transfusion Network on the island. This location will operate from Monday to Friday between 11:00 and 13:30, and it is recommended to make an appointment in advance by calling 928 546 684.
Requirements to Donate
To be a donor, certain essential requirements must be met. Donors should be aged between eighteen and sixty-five years (up to seventy for first-time donors), weigh more than fifty kilos, enjoy general good health, and not be pregnant.
