The beach of El Reducto became the epicentre of the XXX Beach Handball Tournament Ciudad de Arrecife this weekend, an event that is part of the sporting activities for the San Ginés Festival 2025. From the first thing on Friday morning until midday on Saturday, the two courts set up on the beach hosted a multitude of matches across the different categories, crowning “Los chicos del cachopo” as absolute champions in the men’s category and “Ah que jugamos” in the women’s category.
At 10:00 am on Friday, the Tournament began, starting with the matches for the under-12 and under-14 categories, followed throughout the day by the under-16, youth and senior categories. The first day of competition lasted well into the night, with simultaneous matches taking place on both courts.
Saturday was reserved for the semi-finals for the senior men’s and women’s categories, as well as the finals for each category. The intensity and spectacle increased at El Reducto beach. The stands set up and the entire seafront filled with spectators to enjoy the show provided by the players on the beach.
The senior women’s final was won by “Ah que jugamos”, who triumphed in a closely contested match against “Piña o Macedonia”. The final in the senior men’s category was also fiercely contested, with “Los chicos del cachopo” victorious over “FC Machangos”.
The XXX Tournament Beach Handball Ciudad de Arrecife concluded with the presentation of trophies, attended by the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio, and the councillor for Sports, Eli Merino, among other representatives from the capital. Also present were the councillor for Physical Activity and Sport of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, and the president of the Canary Handball Federation, Blas Parrilla.
The trophy presentation awarded the top two placed teams in each category. Additionally, the organising team, led by CB San José Obrero, recognised the tournament’s most spectacular players, with awards going to goalkeeper Itahisa Niz and Carlos Toledo.
