The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura arrested a minor as the alleged perpetrator of two counts of grievous bodily harm that occurred in Costa Calma (Pájara), with the victims being two women staying in hotels in the area. The arrest took place on 18 July 2025.

The investigation, carried out by the Territorial Judicial Police Team of Gran Tarajal with the support of the Main Post of Morro Jable, began after an assault that occurred on 23 June 2025, when a woman was attacked inside her hotel room, resulting in serious injuries to her head, hands, and arms. She was rushed to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, and the incident caused significant public alarm, heightened by messages subsequently posted by the victim on her social media.

During the initial proceedings, security camera footage was analysed, and information was compared with hotel staff from nearby establishments, guests who were staying during the investigated dates, as well as local residents and business employees, checking for prior incidents and possible links to similar cases.

Examination of the recordings established a connection with another incident of similar characteristics, which occurred on 16 December 2024, where another woman was attacked inside her hotel room, also in Costa Calma and a short distance from the first location. In both episodes, an identical modus operandi was observed, and after meticulously comparing the footage, investigators concluded that the same person had accessed the rooms and inflicted serious injuries.

With the gathered information, efforts were made to identify the possible perpetrator, focusing the investigation on a minor who matched the obtained description. Under surveillance, sufficient evidence was collected to request entry and search authorisation from the Juvenile Court of Las Palmas.

On 18 July 2025, with judicial authorisation, a search was carried out at the minor’s home, recovering clothing that he would have worn during both incidents and various objects possibly related to the assaults. Mobile devices were also seized for analysis.

Finally, the minor was placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office for Minors in Las Palmas, and it was decreed that he would be admitted to the Tabares Juvenile Centre, where he will remain under appropriate judicial measures, as reported by the Command of the Civil Guard of Las Palmas in a statement dated 13 August 2025.
