Major Improvements Completed in Teguise Schools Ahead of New Academic Year
The Teguise Town Council has completed significant improvement works at the educational centres in the municipality in preparation for the new school year. Among the most notable projects is the renovation of the metal carpentry at the CEIP César Manrique in Tahiche, which is now finished, and at the CEIP Doctor Alfonso Spínola in the Villa, where work is in its final stages.
This initiative, which involved an investment of €271,765 through the Cooperation Plan of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, was essential due to the deterioration and insulation issues affecting many windows. It has also included painting and refurbishment work at unitary schools and various colleges throughout the municipality, ensuring that the educational infrastructure is nearly ready to welcome students and staff from the very first day of classes.
Commitment to the Educational Community
Teguise Mayor Olivia Duque underscored in a press release this Wednesday that these actions “reflect the commitment made to the educational community to prepare schools before classes commence.” She added, “We are starting the term with centres in better condition, but we are also looking ahead to new projects that will be developed in the coming months.”
Future Plans for Further Enhancements
Furthermore, the Councillor for Works, Eugenio Robayna, revealed that “in addition to completing carpentry and painting works, we are planning further improvements requested by the management teams, such as installing shade structures at the Teguise school, perimeter painting, and maintenance work at various centres.”
Addressing Real Needs
Meanwhile, the Councillor for Education, Mar Boronat, emphasised that alongside these works, painting and maintenance have been prioritised at unitary schools and other colleges in Teguise. “We are fulfilling our commitment to listen and respond to the real needs of families and teaching staff,” she concluded.
The Town Council aims to ensure that all eleven schools in the municipality provide safe, accessible spaces adapted to the current educational needs, thus contributing to the well-being of the entire educational community.
