The Teguise Town Council opens public voting to choose the allegory for Carnival 2026 until 29 September
The Teguise Town Council, through its Celebrations Department, has initiated the public voting process to select the theme for the Carnival of Teguise 2026.
- Residents can participate until 29 September via the municipal website www.teguise.es.
Four themes to choose from
The proposed themes for this year are:
- Beautiful Mexico and Beyond: The Celebration of the Catrinas
- A World of Fantasy: Tales and Magic
- Legends of the Caribbean: Pirates and Corsairs
- Legendary Texas: Teguise and Western Folklore
A more participatory Carnival
The Mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, stressed that “Carnival is one of the most cherished and anticipated celebrations in the municipality, and for that reason, we want the citizens to have a voice from the very beginning of the process. We aim to continue building inclusive, representative festivities that reinforce Teguise’s identity as a cultural and festive reference for Lanzarote.”
The Councillor for Celebrations, Andoni Machín, encouraged the public “to take part in this open voting, as the Carnival of Teguise is a reflection of the creativity and involvement of our community, and we want the chosen allegory to stem from the popular sentiment.”
Next steps
Once the winning allegory is announced, the Town Council will open the competition for the design of the official Carnival 2026 poster, with the guidelines to be revealed soon.
The Carnival of Teguise 2026 will take place from 2 to 15 March 2026 in Costa Teguise, Teguise, and La Graciosa, attracting thousands of people around music, tradition, and joy.
