Preparation for the New Tenerife Aquatic Sports Centre

The Cabildo of Tenerife is gearing up for the opening of the new Tenerife Aquatic Sports Centre (CDAT), located in Puerto de la Cruz, following an investment of over €13 million. The Sports Councillor, Yolanda Moliné, convened a meeting with representatives from federations, clubs, and aquatic sports associations on the island to coordinate the final stages of the work and introduce the centre’s director, Ruyman Trujillo.

The aim of this meeting, according to Moliné, is to establish an open dialogue with the sector and gather their input for the centre’s launch. It is estimated that more than 2,500 people will benefit from the facilities, which aim to become a benchmark for aquatic sports on the island. The management model, based on the principle of “sport for all,” aims to cater to both free users and the federated community, as well as promote sports tourism.

Support for Local Clubs

The Sports Councillor of Puerto de la Cruz, Alberto Cabo, emphasised the effective coordination with the Cabildo to support local clubs and promote aquatic activities. The Councillor explained that the current phase of the facility involves a trial run without users in order to ensure the correct functioning of the entire infrastructure before it is open to the public.

Facilities Overview

The CDAT boasts a 50-metre Olympic swimming pool, a 25-metre pool, three training rooms, changing rooms, offices, and a café. Its opening is scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
