CD Tenerife achieved a well-deserved fourth consecutive victory of the season, defeating Ourense CF 3-0 (goals by De Miguel, Enric Gallego, and Maikel Mesa) at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, which saw a strong turnout of nearly 14,000 fans. This latest triumph also marks a fourth clean sheet.

During the match between CD Tenerife and Ourense CF at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López (fourth round of the Primera Federación 2025/2026), descendants of Paco Zuppo, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, performed the ceremonial kick-off. Additionally, the players donned a special shirt, created in collaboration with El Típico de Tenerife, featuring the lyrics of the popular song “Riqui-Raca.”
Opening Half
The Sunday match at the Tenerife venue, attended by 13,937 spectators, began with the home team dominating, creating two dangerous chances. Alassan was thwarted by visiting goalkeeper Álvaro, followed by Álvaro González, who had a header saved from a corner.
Minutes later, Álvaro Cervera’s side scored the first goal. A tussle in the area involving Enric Gallego and Juanjo Sánchez left the ball loose, which the top scorer De Miguel expertly slotted home with a left-footed strike (1-0, 14’). There was no better way to mark his first birthday as a Tenerife player than by scoring his fourth goal of the season—congratulations, Jesús de Miguel!
Tenerife nearly added a second when a precise pass from Enric Gallego set Nacho Gil one-on-one with Álvaro, but the goalkeeper denied the chance. De Miguel was active again shortly thereafter (29’). Around the 35-minute mark, Enric Gallego also tried his luck after a service from Zoilo but failed to find the target.
A cross from Álvaro González nearly resulted in another goal, as Enric Gallego was poised to strike again. CD Tenerife controlled the game well, creating numerous opportunities while conceding little defensively. The first half ended with no further changes to the score, as the sun shone down on the Heliodoro Rodríguez López. It was another solid performance from Álvaro Cervera’s team, with the second half still to come to solidify this important lead.
Second Half
The second half began with a local substitution, as Josep Calavera came on for captain Aitor Sanz. The coaching staff rightfully called for a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review after a handball in the visitors’ area. Referee Gerard Brull confirmed the foul, and Enric Gallego converted the penalty smoothly (2-0, 63’).
Soon after, Álvaro Cervera made further changes, introducing José León and Dani Fernández for Landazuri and Alassan, respectively. Dani Fernández delivered a cross to the far post, which Enric Gallego converted into a goal, but the referee disallowed it after consulting with an assistant, ruling the ball had gone out of play beforehand.
Tenerife local Maikel Mesa enjoyed his first minutes of the season when he came on for a applauded Enric Gallego (78’), receiving a warm welcome from the home fans. The supporters continued to cheer, as it was a day going perfectly for them. In the final minutes, goalkeeper Dani Martín demonstrated his superb form, showcasing his reflexes by denying a close-range shot from the Ourense attack.
There was still time for another celebration, in the form of a goal. Noel López, who replaced Nacho Gil, was fouled in the area. Maikel Mesa stepped up to take the resulting penalty, striking with precision to round off the scoreline at 3-0 (90+5′).
With eight minutes of stoppage time, the match concluded, marking CD Tenerife’s fourth consecutive victory, along with their fourth clean sheet. Their next challenge is against Real Madrid Castilla CF on 27th September at 17:30 Canary time.
