Investment in Firefighting Fleet Enhancement

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Significant Investment for Safety

The Tenerife Consortium for Fire Prevention, Extinction, and Rescue, under the Cabildo, will invest €4.6 million in the acquisition of 17 specialised vehicles. This is part of a strategic project aimed at updating, renewing, and expanding its fleet to enhance the services provided to the community.

Commitment to Operational Capability

In a statement, President Rosa Dávila highlighted that “safety is a priority, and this has been reflected in the budget we have allocated for the Consortium, which amounts to nearly €26 million.” She added that “we aim to enhance the operational capacity of professional firefighters and improve their services.”

Enhanced Response and Quality

The introduction of these vehicles will improve the quality and response times during interventions, as they are high-performance units capable of handling long-duration emergencies, fires of various types, and rescue operations.

Access to Difficult Areas

Moreover, the specialisation of these vehicles will facilitate access to challenging locations, such as forest fires and narrow urban streets.

Details of the Investment

The total investment reaches €4,686,455, and eight vehicles have already been awarded, valued at €1.8 million. This includes a Heavy Urban Pump (BUP), two Heavy Rural Pumps (BRP), five Pick-Up Command and Control units for transport and management, and a minibus for personnel transport.

Upcoming Procurement

Additionally, a second package of vehicles is set to be tendered in September, valued at €2,855,000. This will include two Urban Pumps (BUP), three Heavy Rural Pumps (BRP), two Special Rescue Units (URE), and a supply urban pump (BUM).
