The presentation of the 30th Antigua Rally highlights three decades of one of the first off-road races organised in Fuerteventura. This event is a significant boost to motorsport, supported by the financial, organisational, and collaborative efforts of the Ayuntamiento de Antigua, noted Mayor Matías Peña. On Tuesday, the 26th at 20:00 hours, the presentation of the thirtieth edition of the Antigua Rally will take place at the Antigua Recreational Society or Casino. The 30th Anniversary of the Antigua Rally honours Victoriano Fránquiz and Jonathan Hernández.

Another notable aspect of this 30th anniversary, added the Mayor, is the celebration of unity among the island’s motor clubs. This collaboration is a triumph for motorsport on the island and serves as an example in the Canary Islands.
Honouring Pioneers of Motorsport
During the presentation of the 30th Antigua Rally, Sports Councillor Samuel Torres detailed that tribute will be paid to two figures who significantly impacted motorsport on the island and in the municipality. This includes a recognition of the late Victoriano Fránquiz, a pioneer of the first off-road rallies, as well as a nod to the young co-driver from Antigua, Jonathan Hernández, who now competes with top drivers.
