    Collaboration Agreement Signed

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has signed a new collaboration agreement with the Government of the Canary Islands to enhance the activities of the Fuerteventura Technology Park. President García has announced a contribution of one million euros for the park’s management, while the government has committed to “help find funding solutions.”

    Key Figures at the Signing

The agreement was signed today by the president of the Cabildo and the Board of Directors of the Technology Park, Lola García, the regional government’s Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation, and Culture, Migdalia Machín, and Guayarmina Elisa Peña as the executive councillor of the Canary Islands Technological Institute (ITC).

Through this agreement, the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands renew their commitment to seek funding solutions to promote actions and publicise the Fuerteventura Technology Park, benefiting both Canary society at large and Fuerteventura in particular. Present at the signing were also the Minister for Innovation, Rayco de León, and the manager of the Technology Park, Eduardo Pereira, as well as the Director of the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation, and Information Society, Javier Franco.

Focus on Innovation and Economic Diversification

According to the island’s president, “the Fuerteventura Technology Park continues to establish itself as an international benchmark, driving projects aimed at finding innovative public service solutions to improve the quality of life for our citizens.” She added, “These projects allow companies and research centres to develop their activities here, attracting investment, creating jobs, and diversifying the economy in Fuerteventura.”

For this reason, García noted that the Cabildo is allocating nearly one million euros from its 2025 budget for the operation of the Technology Park. “Within this effort, it is vital to strengthen inter-administrative collaboration, which is why we are continuing an agreement first signed in 2017, reinforcing cooperation among different administrations to promote a unique centre in the Canary Islands.”

    Strengthening Scientific Infrastructure

Migdalia Machín emphasised that “this agreement reinforces the role of the Fuerteventura Technology Park within the network of scientific and innovation infrastructures in the Canary Islands, ensuring its projection beyond the island. The minister highlighted that “the Government of the Canary Islands is working to ensure that the Park is part of smart growth strategies and acts as a meeting point between businesses, research, and education, attracting talent and high-value projects,” while stressing the importance of institutional collaboration to ensure that investments and knowledge translate into tangible results that improve citizens’ lives and diversify the Canary Islands’ economy.

    The Importance of Innovative Ecosystems

The island’s Minister of Innovation, Rayco de León, underscored the significance of continuing to promote projects from the Technology Park and highlighting to the public the vast opportunities that having an innovative ecosystem in Fuerteventura can offer.
