Gran Tarajal kicks off its festivities in honour of youth, serving as a gathering point for multiple generations over the past five decades. Many have actively participated in the development of cultural, musical, and sporting activities, which have led to the recognition of Youth Week as a key event in the Canary Islands. The Cabildo of Fuerteventura supports the celebration of the 50th Youth Week in Gran Tarajal.
This edition has been organised by the Ayuntamiento of Tuineje in collaboration with the Youth Directorate of the Government of the Canary Islands, and the Youth Department of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, which has increased the budget for the collaboration agreement to €16,000. The Cultural Department of the Insular Corporation has also promoted the exhibition ‘Años de Sal: 50 años siendo jóvenes’ by photographer Carlos de Saá.

The opening event began with a tribute to those who formed the first committee, spearheading this benchmark of youth participation in the Canary Islands, notably through the contributions of the late Charo Prado. This gathering saw more than a hundred individuals who have been directly involved in Youth Week through their organising committees during these 50 years.
