The Cabildo of Tenerife has launched two new slip roads at the Industrial Estate junction of the Valley of Güímar, a project that has involved an investment of €2.9 million. This initiative aims to ease congestion at one of the region’s most critical traffic points, where over 48,000 vehicles pass daily.
The President of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, highlighted that this intervention is part of a comprehensive plan to enhance mobility in the island’s industrial areas and address a long-standing demand. “This project will significantly reduce delays and improve traffic flow, making access to the industrial estates more efficient and safer for businesses and local residents,” she emphasised. She also added, “With this work, we are improving the daily traffic experience for thousands of drivers who use this junction.”
The Mayor of Arafo, Juan Ramón Martín, viewed the work as a significant advancement for the area. “It is great news for the municipality of Arafo and for the Valley of Güímar. The results of this necessary project are already becoming visible, as these two slip roads will help to alleviate congestion and allow for smoother traffic flow,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Councillor for Mobility, Eulalia García, pointed out the importance of these improvements for travel in the region: “These measures are crucial for optimising travel times for both freight transport and users of the TF-1.”
Among the interventions, the access lane from the junction to the southbound TF-1 has been relocated to its permanent position, allowing for a new direct access lane from the TF-1 to the junction. To facilitate this, new rainwater pipes were installed, and existing bus stops were moved. Simultaneously, a new direct exit slip road will be operational from the TF-281 to the southbound TF-1. These new access points are designed to enhance traffic safety and flow by minimising interference with other movements.
