Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Launches New Web Application Maintenance Contract
The contract, with a budget of €27,900, outlines tasks for corrective, adaptive, and evolutionary maintenance, ensuring incident resolution within timeframes ranging from 8 to 40 hours, depending on priority.
Overview of the New Contract
The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has commenced the tendering process for the integral and evolutionary maintenance service of the municipal web application for bulky waste collection requests. The aim is to enhance service management, strengthen security, and facilitate use for both citizens and municipal staff, as stated in a council communiqué.
The application enables residents to request, cancel, or consult appointments for the collection of bulky items. Municipal staff manage requests, statistics, and lists in a centralised manner, as well as generate reports and surveys to optimise service delivery.
Comments from City Officials
The Councillor for Cleanliness, Héctor Alemán, remarked, “With this tender, we take another step in modernising the Municipal Cleaning Service, providing citizens with a more agile, secure tool that meets current needs.”
He further explained, “This initiative is part of a broader strategy for service modernisation, which includes the upcoming integration of new vehicles, equipment, and resources, with an investment of nearly €5 million.”
Maintenance and Improvement Plans
The contract, budgeted at €27,900, encompasses corrective, adaptive, and evolutionary maintenance tasks. It guarantees incident resolution on the web within 8 to 40 hours based on priority, as well as the incorporation of functional improvements to ensure the continuous modernisation of the tool.
The Councillor for Presidency, Finance, Modernisation, and Human Resources, Francisco Hernández Spínola, stated, “With this project, we continue to progress in implementing the Municipal Digital Agenda 2021-2025, supporting various government departments in modernising public services through information and communication technologies.”
Use of the Existing Application
According to the City Council, residents may continue to use the current web application, which allows them to request the day and time to deposit their bulky items, along with the address for municipal resources to collect them. Access is available via the designated web address.
Furthermore, the local authority reminds residents that “it is prohibited to leave bulky items on public highways without a prior appointment, and such actions may incur fines ranging from €120 to €1,800,” as stated in the Municipal Public Cleanliness Ordinance.
Additionally, with the ongoing update of this regulation, these amounts may increase to €3.5 million if uncontrolled dumping severely affects public health or the environment.
