This coming Friday, 22nd August, at 12:30, the beach of Morro Jable will host a special event: the launch of the newly arrived traditional sailing boat at the harbour. The Vela Latina arrives in Morro Jable with the Club Náutico Península de Jandía sailing vessel.
This initiative, driven by the Barquillo Club Náutico Península de Jandía, aims to establish the first Canary Islands traditional sailing team in the five-metre barquillos category.

This project will create a significant transformation for the municipality, promoting a traditional sport that is part of our culture and generating a positive impact within the community.
Goals of the Initiative
The objectives are clear:
- Sporting: To form a competitive team for the Fuerteventura Barquillos Island League.
- Social: To engage local young people and residents of Morro Jable in these activities.
- Cultural: To preserve and promote the practice of traditional sailing, a living heritage of the Canary Islands.
