Remodelling Works at Maspalomas Lighthouse Area
The project involves the complete resurfacing of the promenade and jetty, as well as the construction of a wide accessible ramp aimed at enhancing pedestrian mobility in the area.
The Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, which includes the Gran Canaria Island Council and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Hall, has published the tender for the remodelling works surrounding the Maspalomas Lighthouse, with an estimated cost of approximately €400,975.79. The improvements will encompass the comprehensive refurbishment of a 115-metre stretch of the Meloneras promenade, one of the most frequented public spaces by both residents and tourists, located next to the Maspalomas Lighthouse, which has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest.
Details of the Project
The organisation explains that the project, funded by the Gran Canaria Island Council, includes the complete resurfacing of the promenade and jetty, alongside the construction of a spacious accessible ramp to facilitate and enhance pedestrian mobility. Additional works will involve the demolition of the existing pavement, replacement of curbs and steps, upgrading public lighting, installation of new urban furniture, and the replacement of railings, as well as the repair of existing ramps and stairs.
Project Goals
The aim of the intervention is to increase the quality and appeal of this tourist area by improving a landmark space such as the Maspalomas Lighthouse, which serves as a reference point for both locals and visitors to Gran Canaria.
Application Requirements
Interested companies must demonstrate technical and financial solvency and commit to reducing the execution timeframe during phases 2 and 3 to minimise the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of sections of the promenade. Additionally, they will be required to undertake various supplementary maintenance and adaptation actions during the works.
The deadline for submitting proposals will remain open until 10 September 2025, via the Public Procurement Platform.
