The La Punta de Jandía Lighthouse, located at the southern tip of Fuerteventura, is the second oldest lighthouse in the Canary Islands, following the Anaga Lighthouse in Tenerife, which dates back to 1863. The Jandía Lighthouse commenced operations in 1864 and is recognised as one of the finest examples of historic lighthouses in the Canaries. It was an engineering marvel at the time of its construction and remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in the archipelago, situated within the Jandía Natural Park. The ‘Carrera entre Faros’ is coming: the trail at La Punta de Jandía

The twenty-sixth edition of the Carrera Entre Faros is the oldest trail race in Fuerteventura. It is organised by the Pájara Town Council and the Insular Athletics Federation, with support from the EAMj-Playas de Jandía and Jable del Sur-ITAGU clubs, alongside the Insular Cabildo. The event will take place at La Punta de Jandía, the southernmost tip of Maxorata, on Saturday, 6th September, in the afternoon.

The La Punta race offers several attractions:

Moreover, the XXVI Carrera Entre Faros is part of the El Pulpito festival programme. It always occurs on the first weekend of September, coinciding with the final days of the school holidays. It attracts a steady group of runners who include this weekend in their summer itinerary to participate in a footrace that is more than just a simple competition. The effort to reach La Punta de Jandía along a dirt road is complemented by actively taking part in the El Pulpito festival or enjoying the traditional fish stew.
