The General Directorate of Blood Donation and Haematotherapy of the Canary Health Service (SCS) is moving this week to the municipality of Tuineje to promote blood donation among the local population and visitors alike. The SCS encourages blood donation in Gran Tarajal with a new campaign
The donation point is set up inside the Gran Tarajal Senior Centre, located on Cantaor Manuel Ávila Ferrera Street. It will be operational on Tuesday and Wednesday from 17:00 to 20:30, as well as Thursday and Friday from 10:00 to 13:30.
The SCS reminds everyone of the importance of regular blood donation to ensure a sufficient supply in the hospitals across the Canary Islands. Citizens are encouraged to visit this collection point.
With the arrival of summer, the General Directorate of Blood Donation and Haematotherapy appeals to the public’s solidarity, highlighting the need to maintain blood donations during this season. They remind us that with a small act of kindness, such as donating blood, up to three lives can be saved.
Where to Donate in Fuerteventura
The island of Fuerteventura also has a fixed donation point at the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, located at kilometre 1 on the airport road in Puerto del Rosario. This point operates Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 13:30, and it is advisable to book an appointment in advance by calling 928 546 684.
Requirements to Donate
To be eligible to donate blood, certain essential requirements must be met. Donors should be aged between eighteen and 65 (up to sixty for first-time donors), weigh more than fifty kilograms, be in good general health, and not be pregnant.
