This weekend, the amphitheatre of Las Cucharas (Costa Teguise), the José Ramírez Cerdá Park in Arrecife, and the Plaza de San Miguel in the Villa de Teguise hosted the performances of the second edition of the International Performing Arts Festival “El Mundo en Lanzarote”, an event organised by the Asociación Acciones Unidas with the enhanced support of the Teguise and Arrecife councils, as well as the Cabildo de Lanzarote, where over 150 artists from different parts of the globe shared music, dance, and stories.

The festival has featured companies from Slovakia, Mexico, Colombia, Egypt, Venezuela, Cuba, and Polynesia, alongside local groups.

Participating groups included the Marina Folklore Ensemble from Slovakia, Andanzas de Aguascalientes from Mexico, and Sintana from Colombia. Local formations such as the Folkloric Group Guagime also took the stage, as well as proposals related to other resident cultures in Lanzarote, such as Hayati (Egypt), Soy Colombia by Acciones Unidas, Nora Tovar (Venezuela), Delirio Habanero (Cuba), and Tangaroa (Polynesia).

The combination has provided the audience with a cultural journey that has blended local and international traditions.

The deputy mayor and councilor for Festivals, Echedey Eugenio, highlighted that this event “reminds us that identity is not lost when mixed with other cultures, but rather enriched.” He noted that the San Ginés programme aims to bring the local population together in a festive framework that also looks outward.

The festival “El Mundo en Lanzarote” concluded its 2025 edition with performances at the Sunday market in the Villa de Teguise.
