The Consortium for Security and Emergencies of the Lanzarote Council reported that the Red Cross attended to the arrival of a vessel located by Maritime Rescue in waters near Lanzarote, carrying 49 migrants on Sunday night at the Arrecife dock. Two individuals were transported to hospital with minor conditions. This marked the third boat to arrive on Sunday.
Second Arrival of the Day
The second vessel of the day also reached port with the assistance of Maritime Rescue, carrying 54 individuals on board – 50 men and 4 women – all apparently in good health. This boat had been rescued after drifting at sea nearly 100 kilometres from Arrecife in a rubber dinghy. It was spotted shortly after midnight on Saturday by a fishing vessel, which alerted the state maritime agency.
Morning Arrival
Earlier in the morning, another vessel arrived, bringing 49 men and one woman to safety.
