Tinajo is set to become the epicentre of Lanzarote once again with the much-anticipated celebrations in honour of Our Lady of Sorrows. This Friday, the programme was presented at the entrance of the church of Los Dolores, attended by Tinajo’s mayor, Jesús Machín, along with the councillor for Festivities, Jonathan Pérez Olivero, the Lanzarote Cabildo advisor Aroa Revelo, this year’s announcer Miguel Ángel Tejera, president of the CD Tinajo, and the parish priest of Tinajo, Francisco José García.

The mayor took the opportunity to invite “everyone from Lanzarote, the rest of the Canary Islands and Spain to enjoy these celebrations of Our Lady of Sorrows with a varied programme that will surely please all those who come to Mancha Blanca.” Machín emphasised the importance of “respecting traditional attire at the events of these festivities” and encouraged civic behaviour and adherence to the rules throughout the celebrations.
The advisor for Craftsmanship at the Lanzarote Cabildo received personal congratulations from the local mayor for her efforts in organising the Insular Craft Fair over the years. She highlighted the cultural significance and high expectations surrounding this year’s 36th edition of the Fair, noting that it will bring together around 120 artisans and is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors to Mancha Blanca from 10 to 15 September. Aroa Revelo also presented the new promotional video for the Romería of Los Dolores, produced by the Cabildo and featuring Darío López and Nacho Peña.
Each year, the arrival of September marks one of the most important religious events in all of the Canary Islands.
