The Lanzarote community is in shock following the confirmed death of Yeray Sánchez Morales, a 17-year-old with close ties to the island, who passed away on Wednesday, 3rd September, in a London hospital. Yeray had been hospitalized for a week after being stabbed in the Old Kent Road area of London on Wednesday, 27th August.

According to information released by the Metropolitan Police of London, the young man did not survive the severity of his injuries. The ongoing investigation has led to the arrest and subsequent charge of a 15-year-old male, who cannot be publicly identified for legal reasons.

Yeray’s body will be repatriated to Lanzarote for burial in his homeland. The date and location of the funeral have yet to be officially confirmed.
