A young man from the municipality of Tinajo has tragically died on Sunday afternoon after suffering a drowning incident while practising spearfishing in the Los Charcones area of Yaiza.
Emergency Services Respond
Firefighters from the Consortium of Security and Emergencies were alerted, alongside other emergency services, for a land rescue operation following reports of a person in cardiac arrest in the Los Charcones area. They were called to assist with air support by helicopter.
Upon arrival, responders found that medical staff were already performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a middle-aged man.
Rescue and Aftermath
Local Police and the Civil Guard were at the scene, along with the GES helicopter. Firefighters assisted medical personnel with CPR and later collaborated with rescuers to secure a stretcher and evacuate the injured individual, who, despite the medical team’s efforts, sadly passed away.
