The historic centre of Tuineje will host the inaugural edition of Agrofuer on 5th and 6th September, an event designed to stimulate the economy of the island’s interior by promoting local produce, traditional crafts, and Majoran culture.
The project is organised by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce following the signing of a convention on 6th August. Its aim is to link the growth of the tourism sector with the development of rural communities.
Programme Highlights
The Agrofuer programme will feature live music, gastronomy, and a local produce market, alongside cultural activities. Chefs from the island will participate, working with locally sourced ingredients.
Craftsmanship on Display
Craftsmanship will be prominently featured over the two days, with the presence of local artisans and two workshops showcasing traditional techniques, open to the public.
A Gathering for All
According to a statement from the Insular Corporation, Agrofuer aims to be a meeting point for residents and visitors, with the intention of highlighting local products and promoting the primary sector that has shaped the island’s landscape and flavours.
This initiative is part of the ‘Fuerte por Naturaleza’ programme funded by Next Generation EU resources from the Cabildo Insular.
