Twenty Companies Submit Bids for Santa Cruz Public Works Project

At present, around twenty companies have submitted their bids to participate in the tender for the improvement, renovation, construction, and expansion of public spaces, roadways, infrastructure, and pavement rehabilitation. This initiative falls under the “ambitious” Framework Agreement presented by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council last July.

This tool, which will span four years, has been championed by the Public Services Department and is backed by funding of €127 million. This budget will facilitate the execution and acceleration of public works contracting within the municipality.

Transforming Public Service Provision

The Framework Agreement, which establishes Santa Cruz as the only municipality in the Canary Islands to adopt such an initiative, aims to save time in contracting companies while ensuring greater transparency and quality in services. It will enable the local council to issue derived contracts as needs arise, rather than having to tender for each individual project.

City Council Statement

Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, informed DIARIO DE AVISOS that “the deadline for submitting bids for the Framework Agreement has ended, and 20 companies have come forward, demonstrating that this will be a powerful tool as it has attracted the interest of many construction firms. Although we are now awaiting the awarding of contracts, the aim is to have everything operational by January 2026.”

Tarife further noted that “in Santa Cruz, we have identified numerous improvements to undertake, particularly in renewing the surfaces of roads and pavements, which, despite our cleaning efforts, need replacing.”

However, he added, “it will be the technicians who decide on the priority of the actions, but the budget for executing all the works is already in place.”
