The National Police has arrested two women suspected of committing a burglary that resulted in the theft of €9,675 from a retail establishment in the tourist area of Las Américas, in Arona. The swift and efficient police response enabled the full recovery of the stolen funds and clarified the incident in just a few days.

The burglary occurred on the night of 31 August, and according to police investigations, the suspects acted in a perfectly coordinated manner. One of them, who had previously worked at the establishment, leveraged her knowledge of the business to enter and hide before the staff closed the doors. This method of theft, known as “encalomo”, is particularly stealthy.

Once the establishment was empty, the woman hidden inside allowed her accomplice to enter and carry out the theft. Investigators discovered that the suspects accessed various gaming machines without forcing them. Instead, they used a master key, demonstrating the premeditation of the crime to avoid leaving visible evidence.

Just days after the theft, officers located the two women. In the vehicle they were using, they found part of the stolen money, as well as two balaclavas and the clothing one of the suspects had worn during the robbery. The investigation concluded with a residential search warrant issued by a judge, where the remaining stolen money, along with the master key and the clothing used in the assault on the establishment, were recovered.

With these arrests, the National Police reaffirms its commitment to citizen safety on the island of Tenerife, ensuring that such crimes do not go unpunished.
