UD Lanzarote Claims Victory in Season Opener Against CD Tenerife “C”

This Sunday, UD Lanzarote returned to the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote, kicking off the season with a home match against CD Tenerife “C”. It was a game that required patience to secure the three points at stake. The Tenerife side took an early lead in the first half, but goals from Adrián Machín and Raúl in the second half turned the tide.

Early Attempts and a Setback

From the outset, UD Lanzarote dominated possession and began creating dangerous opportunities. The clearest chance came in the 10th minute, when a through ball allowed Nadjib to break into the area and lay it off for Adrián Machín, whose shot was saved low by the goalkeeper. After the first half-hour, however, CD Tenerife “C” struck first with a goal from Guille.

Second Half Resilience

The second half began with another opportunity for UD Lanzarote, with a shot from Nadjib outside the box striking the crossbar. The red-and-whites had to exercise patience, as their opponents stalled play at every opportunity, disrupting the game’s rhythm.

Turning the Game Around

The reward for their persistence came in the 78th minute. A precise cross from Lisandro on the left found Adrián Machín, who headed it in to equalise. Just two minutes later, Mario Román’s header from a right-wing cross was cleared off the line by a defender, but Raúl capitalised on the rebound to score the second.

Closing Stages

The referee added nine minutes to the second half due to the numerous stoppages for time-wasting. During this added time, UD Lanzarote ensured that their opponents did not mount any serious attacks. The reds secured their first victory of the season in their return to the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote.
