Wencoe Astilleros Canarios Seeks Port Concession
The company Wencoe Astilleros Canarios, S.L. has requested an administrative concession from the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the occupation of approximately 20,306.56 m² in plot 70 of the new landfills in the Fishing Dock of the capital. This area is intended for the construction and operation of a shipyard focused on the manufacture of recreational and sports vessels, along with its complementary activities.
The Provincial Official Bulletin has made this public in accordance with Article 85.3 of the consolidated text of the State Ports and Merchant Marine Act. This allows “corporations, entities, and individuals who believe they may be affected” a period of twenty days to examine the file and present any relevant submissions regarding the aforementioned request.
Wencoe Astilleros Canarios is headquartered on Farola del Mar Street in the Fishing Dock. The company’s main activity is the construction of recreational and sports vessels. It was officially established on 19 July 2023 through a public deed.
In the Canary Islands, a recreational vessel is defined as “any vessel up to 24 metres in length intended for recreational and sports purposes, which does not transport more than twelve people.” The archipelago boasts an extensive network of marinas and sports ports catering to recreational vessels. There is a significant industry associated with the maintenance and repair of vessels, including luxury yachts.
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife operates seven sporting marinas under administrative concession: the Santa Cruz Marina in Los Llanos, the Marina de Tenerife, and Puerto Chico in the Fishing Dock. Additional locations include Los Cristianos (southern Tenerife), San Sebastián de La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.
