The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has confirmed that the Canary Islands will experience a weekend of unsettled weather, with clouds and scattered showers expected across several islands.

General Forecast

Today, skies will predominantly remain cloudy in the north of the archipelago, with a low chance of light and sporadic rain, particularly in the northeast midlands, where showers may occur more frequently. These showers, however, are likely to ease and become less frequent by midday.
In other areas, cloudy intervals are anticipated in the western regions and the central peaks, while the remainder of the islands will benefit from clearer skies.

Despite the rain, temperatures will remain largely stable, with highs of 29ºC in Tenerife and lows of 17ºC in El Hierro.

Forecast for the Province of Las Palmas

  • Gran Canaria: Cloudy in the north with a low chance of showers in the midlands, gradually clearing as the day progresses. The rest of the island will experience mostly clear conditions.
  • Lanzarote and Fuerteventura: Cloudy intervals are likely in the early and late parts of the day, giving way to clearer skies by midday.

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range between 22ºC and 25ºC, showing little variation compared to previous days.

Winds

  • The northeast trade winds will blow moderately across most of the islands.
  • Strong gusts may occur in the southeast and northwest of Gran Canaria, as well as in exposed areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
  • In mountainous regions, winds will be lighter, predominantly from the north.

Key Takeaway

Residents and visitors should prepare for a mix of sun, clouds, and occasional showers, particularly on the north-facing slopes and midlands. While umbrellas may be useful at times, the islands will continue to enjoy warm summer temperatures, highlighting the Canary Islands’ unique weather contrasts.
