Wizz Air Drives Growth in Spain with Record Capacity of 10 Million Seats, a 28% Increase in the Canary Islands

Wizz Air has announced an ambitious expansion plan for this year, aiming to provide a total of 10 million seats from Spain, a historic figure for the airline.

The airline has focused on accessibility and affordable fares for Spanish travellers, consolidating its network of destinations and its presence in the area while also reinforcing its commitment to the Canary Islands.

Currently, Wizz Air operates from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura, with a total of 15 routes to 10 destinations.

By 2025, the company will have surpassed one million seats offered to and from the islands, marking a 28% increase in operational capacity compared to the previous year. Since the start of its operations, the airline has transported over 3.5 million passengers across the archipelago.

Between March 2025 and March 2026, the airline has added 35 new routes connecting 16 Spanish airports with destinations throughout Europe. Notable new connections include routes linking cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, and Seville with London Luton.

Additionally, new destinations such as Gdansk and Skopje have been introduced, expanding the range of options for travellers.

This growth has enabled Wizz Air to achieve the largest seat capacity in its history on routes connecting Spain with Rome, where the airline has established itself as a market leader.

So far in 2025, Wizz Air has operated over 29,000 flights in Spain, representing a 17.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, transporting 6.4 million passengers. This year-on-year growth of 22.4% has been accompanied by a reliability rate of 99.8% and a 16.6% improvement in punctuality, demonstrating the airline’s dependability.

Tickets for all routes are available for purchase on the Wizz Air website and mobile app.
