A woman tragically passed away this Tuesday after being rescued from the sea while in cardiac arrest at a beach in the municipality of Antigua, Fuerteventura. Unfortunately, efforts to reverse her condition were unsuccessful, as reported by the Emergency Coordination Centre and Safety (Cecoes) 112.
The alert was received around 13:15, when it was reported that a woman had been pulled from the water at Caleta de Fuste beach and was receiving assistance from the beach lifeguard.
The Response
Personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) who arrived at the scene continued both basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres. However, these efforts proved fruitless, and the death of the swimmer was ultimately confirmed.
The operation also involved Emergency Services of Fuerteventura, as well as officers from the Local Police and the Guardia Civil, who are handling the necessary procedures to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
