The XIII EMMAX Swim – Playa Honda, organised by the San Bartolomé Council and Tripasión Eventos, with support from the Cabildo of Lanzarote and Restaurante EMMAX, transformed Avenida de Playa Honda into the epicentre of open water swimming this Saturday. The event has established itself as one of the most significant in the Canary Islands’ calendar, bringing together athletes of all ages and levels for a day filled with camaraderie, competitive spirit, and inclusiveness.
Main Event Results
The main event, a 4-kilometre swim starting from Charco de San Ginés (Arrecife) and part of the Canary Islands Open Water Cup, saw Nicolás Padrón Miguélez (Nadamás) claim victory in the men’s category with a time of 00:50:25. He was followed by Carlos Alberto Pérez Flórez (C.N. Baja Larga) with 00:50:50, and Erik Manuel Suárez Martín (Nadamás), coming in third at 00:51:37. In the women’s category, Naira Jaén Serra (Nadamás) won with a time of 00:51:53, accompanied on the podium by Nora Delgado Hernández (Nadamás) in second with 00:54:43, and Naira Pérez López (Nadamás) in third with 00:57:13.
Additional Distances
The 1,200, 800, and 400-metre distances were part of the Lanzarote Open Water Cup, adding a competitive edge for younger and developing swimmers.
In the 1,200 metres, the men’s podium was led by Herminio Fernández Alperi (Nadamás) with a time of 00:17:20, followed by Nicolás Padrón Miguélez (Nadamás) and Matías Padrón Miguélez (Nadamás). In the women’s category, Naira Jaén Serra (Nadamás) was fastest at 00:17:56, followed closely by Lily Gopar Cordovés (Nadamás) and Nora Delgado Hernández (Nadamás).
For the 800 metres, the men’s victory went to Juan José Ramos García (Nadamás) with a time of 00:16:00, ahead of Adrián Sánchez Rodríguez (CD Nonadamos) and Echedey Cabrera Erimias (Nadamás). In the women’s category, Katia Pérez López (Nadamás) triumphed at 00:15:27, followed by Guize Betancor Paz (Nadamás) and Jimena Martín Peraza (Nadamás).
Emerging Talents
The 400-metre event showcased future talents in Lanzarote’s open water swimming. Aitana Camacho Toledo (ESNA Lanzarote) claimed victory in the women’s category with a time of 00:08:32, while Xoán Pachón Golpe (ESNA Lanzarote) won in the men’s with 00:09:45.
The youngest participants enjoyed a fantastic day of sport and social engagement, taking centre stage at times. Upon crossing the finish line, they received their medals and enjoyed a comprehensive refreshment station, all thanks to the generosity of Cajasiete.
Power and Relay Events
In the Power event, which combined the 4 km and 1,200 metres, Nicolás Padrón Miguélez (Nadamás) emerged as the winner with a cumulative time of 01:08:10, followed by Naira Jaén Serra (Nadamás) in second place at 01:09:49. The competition also featured 3×200 metre relays, where the team Lentos y Felices (Nora, Matías, and Katia) clinched victory with a time of 00:06:06, ahead of Las Sirenitas (Herminio, Nicolás, and Naira) in second with 00:06:08, and ReleVentos (Besay, Natalia, and Erik) in third at 00:06:14.
Inclusive Swim
One of the highlights of the day was the Inclusive category, which once again received the loudest ovation thanks to the enthusiastic participation of swimmers supported by family, friends, and volunteers. This category was made possible through the backing of the “la Caixa” Foundation via CaixaBank and the Lanzarote Cabildo’s Department of Social Affairs, solidifying its role as a model of inclusive sport on the island.
