Yaiza Mayor Confirms Installation of €-Funded Information Posts at 25 Bus Stops

The Town Hall confirms cooperation with the Cabildo for the execution of the European-funded project. Informational posts will be installed at 25 bus stops in the municipality

The Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, confirmed that the Town Hall positively resolved the inter-administrative cooperation requested by the Lanzarote Cabildo on Thursday. This agreement will enable the island’s First Corporation to proceed with the installation of 25 informative posts featuring screens for passengers at various interurban bus stops in local towns, as well as the internal line of Playa Blanca, a project that is backed by European funding.

The project proposal states that the informative posts will be powered by solar energy, eliminating the need for any electrical installations. At locations where these digital information posts are installed, existing totems will be removed. Each post will be anchored to the ground and will include a solar panel, a personalised stop indicator, and a 15-inch informational screen.

Also awaiting bus shelters

“We have favourably informed them of the availability of the land, and now we await the project’s execution. Regarding transport, I would like to remind everyone that we are still waiting for the installation of bus shelters along the public transport line in Playa Blanca,” the Mayor noted.

In this context, the Councillor for Transport in Yaiza, Beatriz Vázquez, stated, “This is another commitment from the Lanzarote Cabildo to Yaiza that is pending funding. We signed the inter-administrative collaboration for the bus shelters in September of last year, and they have yet to be installed. In fact, in December, when the pilot service for the taxi-bus in El Golfo began, we personally reminded President Oswaldo Betancort about this issue, and since then, the problem has been the lack of funding.”
