Caraballo Reaffirms Commitment to Lanzarote and La Graciosa

Yoné Caraballo Vows to Champion Lanzarote’s Interests Amid Political Challenges

Yoné Caraballo, the MP for Lanzarote and La Graciosa in the Canary Islands Parliament and the regional president of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc), will begin the new political term as he ended the last—by advocating for the interests of the people of Lanzarote and ensuring that the island’s issues are heard in the Canary Chamber.

Caraballo reiterates his commitment to the Lanzarote community, stating that at the halfway point of the legislative term, he will “continue on the same path he has pursued since becoming a parliamentarian, speaking clearly, prioritising truth and always focusing on the well-being of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.”

Criticism of the Current Government

“We are at the midpoint of our mandate and we see that this conservative government of Coalición Canaria (CC) and Partido Popular (PP) has been the worst for the interests of the people of Lanzarote. No other government has dared to treat us in this manner, leaving us at the bottom in budgeting, denying us public aid that other islands receive, opposing crucial improvements like healthcare and housing, and leaving us to face an unprecedented water crisis alone,” Caraballo asserts, maintaining that he will “launch a range of proposals in Parliament to hold this government and its supporting MPs accountable for their lack of commitment to the voters of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.”

“It is shameful how the MPs of CC and PP repeatedly vote against the interests of Lanzarote while disguising their actions by presenting initiatives that do not impact the government, merely aiming to create the illusion that they are doing something,” comments the MP, emphasising that he has “often found himself alone in Parliament defending issues such as the medical helicopter, psychiatric sub-unit, or the Maritime Museum for Arrecife.”

Addressing Crucial Issues

Additionally, Caraballo states that he will continue to bring to Parliament matters that he views as essential for the island, including the long-awaited 24-hour Care Point in Mala; health centres in Argana Alta and Playa Honda; the establishment of a new Basic Health Zone in Arrecife to alleviate Titerroy; improvements in Primary Care in Tahiche and Tinajo; effective measures to reduce high rental and housing prices; and solutions to the water crisis.

Podcast “The Alexis Army”

The MP will appear this Monday on the popular YouTube podcast “The Alexis Army,” hosted by Alexis Amaya, owner of Dormitorum. Caraballo will kick off the second season of this podcast, which has gone viral for its interviews with notable figures in the political, cultural, and economic arenas of the Canaries, tackling the issues affecting the islands with a critical yet constructive tone.

Yoné Caraballo expresses his gratitude to the “The Alexis Army” team for their invitation and hospitality, urging all residents of Lanzarote and La Graciosa to watch the programme where he discusses, among other topics, the primary challenges facing the island, how he “embarked” on a political career, and his future plans.
