La Tijera – Festival Corto Orotava will celebrate its 20th edition next week, establishing itself as one of the most iconic audiovisual events in the Canary Islands.
The competitive screenings will commence on Thursday 6th November with the Canarian Section. On Friday 7th and Saturday 8th, the two phases of films competing in the Official Section will be presented. Tickets are already available on the website www.festivalcortosorotava.com.
The comedian Darío López from Palante Producciones will again serve as the master of ceremonies, a role that has made him a familiar figure and a major draw for the audience that fills the seats each year, this time at the Cines Yelmo La Villa in La Orotava.
“I have always enjoyed the quality of the short films that are screened, even when I was just a spectator. It is a delight to return to this festival,” said López, a well-known supporter of the archipelago’s oldest short film event.
In this 2025 edition, actress and presenter Cayetana Guillén Cuervo will be the festival godmother and will present the award for the winning short film in the Official Section during the closing gala, which will also take place on Saturday 8th November at the Cines Yelmo La Villa.
The La Orotava Short Film Festival is organised by Cinenfoque together with the La Orotava Town Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, Promotur, the Tenerife Cabildo, and various private entities.
