Rosa Dávila Highlights the Achievements of Tenerife Athlete Gisela García Vera

Today (Thursday), the President of the Tenerife Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, welcomed young Tenerife athlete Gisela García Vera, a member of the Batistana Club of Tenerife in Rhythmic Gymnastics, at the Insular Palace to acknowledge her significant sporting achievements this season.

During the meeting, Rosa Dávila congratulated the gymnast on her successes at the Spanish Championships held this year, where she was crowned Spanish Champion twice within just twenty days, establishing herself as one of the foremost talents in national rhythmic gymnastics.

The Cabildo president stated, “Gisela embodies the values of sport: daily effort, perseverance, discipline, and the capacity to overcome challenges. Her achievements are a source of pride for all of Tenerife and serve as an inspiration for many young people who view sport as a means to grow both personally and professionally.” Dávila also emphasised the importance of the work carried out by the island’s sports clubs and the families who support athletes in their journeys.

Additionally, the president conveyed her best wishes to the athlete for the future: “I am convinced that this is just the beginning of a career filled with success. I hope we can one day see you representing Spain at the Olympic Games, as you certainly have the talent, dedication, and determination to succeed.”

The Councillor for Sports, Yolanda Moliné, congratulated the athlete “for her recent achievements and for establishing herself as one of the great prospects of Spanish rhythmic gymnastics. She is a remarkable blend of exceptional talent, hard work, sacrifice, and commitment.” Furthermore, the councillor highlighted that “it is a source of pride for the island to have athletes like Gisela, who elevate our land’s name to the highest levels and become role models for many girls practicing rhythmic gymnastics.”

In conclusion, the councillor remarked that “these successes also reflect the work conducted by Batistana, which is a true breeding ground for champions. Therefore, the sports area of the Cabildo will continue to support grassroots initiatives and clubs contributing to the growth of our sport.”

Gisela García Vera expressed her gratitude for the recognition and stated that such meetings provide motivation to strive for new goals. “It is an honour to receive the support of the Tenerife Cabildo and its president. These accomplishments are the result of many years of effort, the dedication of my coaches, my club, and the unwavering support of my family. This recognition encourages me to keep training every day to achieve new objectives,” she said.

Spanish Champion

Gisela García Vera, aged 19, became the Spanish Champion in the individual junior category on 18 April during the Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship held in Oviedo. Just twenty days later, on 8 May, she stood atop the podium again, winning the Spanish Championship in the junior group category, held in Santander.
