Maspalomas Man Arrested for Disrupting Religious Services
A man has been arrested in Maspalomas on suspicion of disturbing public worship and violating religious freedoms over a nine-month period. National Police launched an investigation into his alleged disruptive behaviour during church services at a local parish.
Complaints from parishioners and church officials highlighted the man’s repeated attendance at liturgical celebrations, where he would shout and make threatening comments towards those present. When asked to leave, he reportedly responded aggressively, confronting attendees and issuing insults.
The disturbances, which began in September 2025, created an atmosphere of fear among worshippers, undermining their right to freely practice their religion.
After gathering enough evidence to identify the suspect, authorities set up an operation that led to his arrest. He has now been charged with offences against religious freedom and public peace. Following police procedures, he has been placed before the court, which has issued several precautionary measures, including a restraining order barring him from the church.
