30th Edition of the Rapid Painting Competition in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

This year, marking its 30th anniversary, has been a particularly special edition, offering €18,000 in prizes.
From early on Saturday morning, Avenida Mesa y López in the capital of Gran Canaria transformed into an open-air gallery, featuring over 300 participants in the XXX edition of the Rapid Painting Competition. Artists, aged between three and 73, showcased their creativity through a diverse array of styles and themes.
With limited time for their creations, this event celebrated its milestone birthday in the best way possible, bringing art to life and revealing the spirit of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
A Celebration of Artists
This year, professionals, enthusiasts, students, and young artists were at the heart of the 30th anniversary, making it a memorable occasion with substantial prizes.
Starting from 3:00 PM, all artworks were displayed outdoors throughout the afternoon, creating a vibrant living museum in the city. Attendees awaited the results, with the jury’s decision being revealed at 6:00 PM.
Jury Composition and Awards
The jury featured prominent professionals from the fields of fine arts, contemporary creation, and cultural management.
Prizes by Category
In the adult category, 17 awards were distributed. The City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria award, worth €2,500, was presented to Alejandro Mesa Fajardo.
Additionally, 16 other participants received prizes sponsored by Hotel LIVVO Fataga, Lamido S.L., Velorcios, Calzedonia, El Corte Inglés, Fundación la Caixa, Tono de Colores, McDonald’s, Bingo Real Club Victoria, Herrera Cerpa Óptica/Audio, Guaguas Municipales, SPAR Gran Canaria, Rocasa, Guess, Cajasiete, and Protelum, each valued at €900.
Winners in Youth and Children’s Categories
In the youth category, the first prize, sponsored by Galería Bellas Artes, went to Miriam Ortega Gómez. The second prize, sponsored by Banco Sabadell, was awarded to Eileen Santana Ferrera; the third prize, sponsored by El Pote Restaurante, went to Jordán González López; the fourth prize, sponsored by Mercado Central, was awarded to Elena González Santana; and the fifth prize, sponsored by Marrero Monzón, was given to Florencia Ortega Sánchez.
In the children’s category, Aitana Sexto Salazar received the first prize, sponsored by Pecan Suministros; the second prize, sponsored by Jugueterías Nikki, went to Clara Herrera González; the third prize, sponsored by Blancodent, was awarded to Maria Mykehyeva; and the fourth prize, sponsored by Akuo, went to Zoe Chang Álvarez.
Finally, in the primary category, the first prize, sponsored by Albert Joyeros, was awarded to Souhail El Montaser Alemán; the second prize, sponsored by Arte Digital 7 Islas, went to Claudia Rodríguez; the third prize, sponsored by El Trastero Tasca Urbana, was awarded to Adriano Casinelli; and the fourth prize, sponsored by Securitas, went to Mar Torres Delgado.
A selection of the best works from the competition will be showcased in an exhibition running from September 4 to October 4 at the Cultural Space of El Corte Inglés.
