53 Companies Receive Distinctions from SICTED in Fuerteventura

A total of 53 tourism businesses and services have today revalidated or obtained for the first time the diplomas and distinctive plaques from the Integrated Quality Tourism System in Destinations (SICTED). This programme is developed on the island by the Fuerteventura Tourism Board and promoted throughout Spain and the Canary Islands by the Spanish Government’s Secretary of State for Tourism, SEGITTUR, and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

The Councillor for Tourism of the Insular Cabildo, Marlene Figueroa, has expressed her gratitude for the commitment to quality and continuous improvement demonstrated by numerous businesses, institutions, and tourism services, highlighting the strength this brings to the Fuerteventura destination.

Adapting to New Tourist Paradigms

Marlene Figueroa also explained that we are facing an unavoidable new tourism paradigm, which requires changes in the process of continuous improvement to adapt to a complex environment, alongside rapidly transforming demands and dynamics.

In this regard, the Councillor noted that the time has come to understand tourism from the perspective of the destination, ensuring the industry serves society and its citizens.

Evolving Methodology

Thus, the SICTED is also evolving its methodology by expanding the Good Practice Manuals and assessments to include aspects that previously appeared to be separate lines of work, yet provide coherence to quality, such as sustainability, smart digitalisation of the destination, and resilience—the capacity to adapt swiftly to changes.

Enhanced Training and Support

Training is becoming more virtual through convenient modules that can accommodate the schedules of sector workers. Additionally, the logo has been modified to align with the new corporate image of SEGITTUR and the Hosts Programme, while the web platform has been made more straightforward and intuitive.

All these changes will be incorporated throughout the year, with the Fuerteventura Tourism Board providing the necessary technical assistance and guidance to all distinguished and affiliated public services and companies to facilitate a smooth transition.
