The Amigos del Museo de Naturaleza y Arqueología (MUNA), in collaboration with Museos de Tenerife, is organising two new activities aimed at its members and the general public, combining the dissemination of the island’s natural heritage with literature and cultural reflection.
José Carlos Acha, the Tenerife Cabildo’s Councillor for Culture, Museums and Sports, encourages citizens to participate in these carefully organised activities by the Amigos del MUNA Association, highlighting their value as meeting spaces for scientific dissemination, natural heritage and culture. “These initiatives help to bring knowledge closer to citizens and foster greater awareness of the island’s natural, historical, and cultural richness,” he notes.
On Saturday 13th June, the guided tour ‘A Historical-Natural Itinerary’ will take place in San Juan de la Rambla. This geotourism activity will allow participants to discover the close relationship between the volcanic history of the area and its human utilisation over time.
The easy difficulty trail spans approximately 1.4 kilometres and will run in a circular format, featuring 14 points of interest. The activity will help participants understand how the municipality sits upon a platform sloping towards the sea, shaped by the lava flow of Montaña Negra around 9,000 years ago, and the significance of the ignimbrite of San Juan, a rock formed 2.2 million years ago that has played a vital role in local architecture.
The route will be guided by J. Sergio Socorro Hernández, a biologist and specialist in scientific photography at the Tenerife Natural Sciences Museum. His career combines scientific dissemination with advanced visual documentation techniques of geological landscapes.
The activity includes bus transport, an educational guide of the itinerary provided to each participant, with a return expected around 13:00 hours.
The cost is €15 for members and €20 for non-members, departing from Plaza de Europa in Santa Cruz at 09:00 hours, with stops in La Laguna and Tacoronte.

Book Presentation: ‘The Changing Abode of the Gods’
On the other hand, on Tuesday 16th June at 19:00 hours, the MUNA will host the presentation of the book ‘The Changing Abode of the Gods’ by Uruguayan writer and academic Lincoln Bizzozero.
The event will feature Francisco García-Talavera Casañas as the presenter, organised by the Amigos del MUNA Association alongside the OAMC. Entry is free until full capacity is reached.
The novel is set in the ancient Zapotec civilisation in the valleys of Oaxaca (Mexico) and narrates the initiation process of priest Bsia and aspirant Rapaguidxi on their path to spiritual transformation and the guardianship of communal knowledge.
Structured in five chapters, the work combines historical, symbolic, and spiritual elements, with a strong cultural connection to the worldview of the ancient Zapotec civilisation of Oaxaca.
The author, Lincoln Bizzozero, holds a doctorate in Political Science and a diploma in International Law from the Free University of Brussels, with a distinguished academic career at the University of the Republic (Uruguay) and a prolific literary output focused on international relations, culture, and poetic reflection.
