Weather Alert: High Temperatures Expected in Gran Canaria

A yellow weather warning is in effect for southern Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, with temperatures potentially reaching 35 degrees Celsius today. Starting tomorrow, these temperatures could soar above 37 degrees in several areas, particularly in Tuineje, Antigua, and Pájara, with heightened warnings also for Puerto del Rosario.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued an orange alert for high temperatures starting Monday, which is expected to remain in place at least until Tuesday. There is a possibility that this alert will be extended through to Friday, when temperatures may finally begin to drop slightly.

Residents and visitors are urged to exercise caution, especially during the hottest parts of the day, and to protect vulnerable groups, including infants, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions. Additionally, UV radiation levels are expected to be very high, so it’s advised to seek shade or use high-factor sunscreen.
